Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about my services, assessments, discovery calls and support options — jump to a section below, or browse everything.
General
Do I need a diagnosis before I can access your services?
No. I support individuals and families at every stage of the journey — whether you're waiting for an assessment, have recently received a diagnosis, or are simply looking for practical strategies. You don't need a formal diagnosis to book a discovery call.
Do you work with children, adults, or both?
Both. My services are designed to support individuals of any age, as well as the families and carers around them.
What makes Family Wellbeing Services different from other providers?
Many providers focus solely on diagnosis. I offer ongoing, person-centred support before, during and after assessment — recognising strengths as well as challenges, and building practical strategies for everyday life, not just a diagnostic label.
Is everything discussed with you confidential?
Yes. What you share with me is treated confidentially and handled sensitively at every stage. There are, however, some circumstances in which confidentiality may need to be limited — including where there's a serious risk of harm to you or another person, concerns about the abuse or neglect of a child or vulnerable adult, where disclosure is required by law or ordered by a court, or where professional consultation or clinical supervision is needed to support the safe and effective delivery of therapy. In these cases, only relevant information is shared, and confidentiality is maintained wherever possible. I'll always talk this through with you directly at the start of working together.
Do you offer support for schools or other professionals working with my child?
Yes. I regularly work alongside schools, CAMHS, social services and other professionals already involved, so that everyone supporting your child is working from the same understanding and towards the same goals.
Waiting Lists & Diagnosis
How long are families typically waiting for an assessment?
Waiting times vary depending on the type of assessment and local services, and can range from several months to a couple of years. That's exactly why I do this — to provide meaningful, practical support throughout that waiting period, not just after a diagnosis is made.
What can I do while I'm waiting for an assessment?
A great deal. Sleep support, behavioural support and holistic assessment can all begin straight away — helping you understand what's going on and build practical strategies, regardless of where you are on a formal diagnostic waiting list.
Are your assessments a replacement for an NHS or clinical diagnosis?
My holistic and neurodiversity profiling services provide clarity, understanding and practical recommendations. Where a formal clinical diagnosis is required, I'll help you understand your options and how my support fits alongside that process.
Can you help even if we're not sure we want a formal diagnosis?
Absolutely. Some families want a diagnosis, others just want to understand their child (or themselves) better and access practical support — both are completely valid reasons to get in touch.
Assessments & Services
What happens during a discovery call?
I'll take the time to understand your situation, your goals and the challenges you're facing. From there, I'll recommend the service (or combination of services) most likely to help, and we'll agree next steps together.
What's the difference between a holistic assessment and a diagnostic assessment?
A diagnostic assessment is aimed at providing a diagnosis. A holistic assessment is about understanding the whole person — strengths, challenges, environment and daily life — and aligning the right support and understanding, with or without a diagnosis.
How long does an assessment take?
This varies by service and by individual — I'll always explain expected timescales during your discovery call, so there are no surprises.
Will I receive a written report or summary?
Yes. Following an assessment or profiling service, you'll receive a clear written summary of findings and practical recommendations you can keep, refer back to, and share with schools or other professionals if you choose to.
Do you offer ongoing support, or one-off appointments?
Both — some families need a single discovery call for advice and direction, while others benefit from ongoing sleep support, behavioural support or ND profiling over a period of weeks or months. I'll agree the right level of support with you.
Booking & Practical
How do I book a discovery call?
You can book directly through my online booking system, or get in touch via my contact form and I'll arrange a time that works for you.
What does a discovery call cost?
Your discovery call is free, with no obligation to book anything further. Costs for ongoing support vary depending on the service and level of support you need — I'll always be upfront about pricing before you commit to anything.
Can I reschedule or cancel my appointment?
Yes, just get in touch as soon as you can and I'll find a time that works better for you.
Do you offer support outside of standard working hours?
I understand family life doesn't always fit into a 9-to-5 — get in touch and I'll do my best to find a time that works for you.
Resources
What are the free and paid resources?
My free resource library includes downloadable guides and practical advice you can access straight away. Paid resources offer more in-depth, structured support for specific topics such as sleep routines or behavioural strategies.
Can I access resources without booking a discovery call?
Yes — free resources are available to everyone, no booking required. You're welcome to browse and download what's useful to you at any time.
Consultancy & Training
Who is consultancy and training for?
Schools and educational settings, health and social care providers, and organisations or charities working with neurodivergent children, adults or families — as well as families themselves who need help navigating multiple services.
How is consultancy priced?
Day rates and packages are agreed individually depending on scope — get in touch via the Consultancy & Training page and I'll come back to you with options.
Can training be delivered on-site or remotely?
Both — whatever works best for your team. Sessions are built around your specific needs, from a single workshop to an ongoing arrangement.
